Maintenance

Maintenance is vitally important to the ongoing trouble-free operation of your Island Boat Lift.  Though designed for the severe salt environment, applying lubricating spray, greasing all zerk fittings and visually inspecting components for unusual wear will ensure its longevity. 

Island Boat Lifts recommends that maintenance be performed at a minimum of every six months as follows:

• Spray -  Apply a medium coat of high-quality lubricating spray to all cables, cable winders and pulleys.
• Grease – Using a grease gun with waterproof grease, apply grease to all zerk fittings on the bearing-block assembly and to each pulley bolt. 
• Inspect – While performing the above tasks, visually inspect the entire boat lift. Inspect cables for fraying, pulleys for unusual wear, and fittings for any sign of damage. 
• Our stainless-steel motors and sealed gearboxes are maintenance-free.  

For seasonal residents, keep in mind that the lack of use is often more harmful to motors, pulleys, and electrical contacts than those activated on a more regular basis.
